James Ballard is founder, director of Healing the Hurt Ministries in Charlotte, N.C., a counseling practice emphasizing a Christian wholistic therapeutic approach. He is a Certified Reality Therapist and a Certified Master Chaplain with APA and Board Certified in Integrative Medicine. He has served on the faculty of The Glasser Institute. He is a Diplomate with the American Academy of Pain Management, The National Wellness Institute, the College of Pastoral Counseling, the American Board of Medical Psychotherapist, the National Center of Crisis Management and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. He has been a presenter at the American Association of Christian Counselors World Conference and a frequent presenter at National Wellness Conferences and American Academy of Pain Management. He has led numerous seminars in Europe and South America. He is the author of three books and numerous journal articles.
A graduate of Mars Hill College and Carson Newman College, Dr. Ballard received a Master of Divinity Degree and a Doctor of Ministries Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
From 1987 - 2007 Dr. Ballard directed Counseling and Health Enhancement Ministries at a mega church in Charlotte, N.C. and supervised counseling interns from area universities and seminaries. Prior to that he served as pastor of churches in North Carolina and Florida and along with his wife served as a missionary to South Brazil. Dr. Ballard has also served on numerous occasions as Protestant Chaplain for Holland America Cruise Line.
